Widgetail

For publishers

Know which of your content actually creates value.

Your archive is the asset. Pageviews can't tell you which parts of it readers value, or which parts are quietly earning nothing. Widgetail measures real engagement per page, and is building toward turning that value into revenue.

The publisher problem

Traffic went up. So why didn't revenue?

Because a pageview counts an arrival, not attention. Two pages with the same traffic can be worth very different amounts, and you can't see which is which.

Pageview

Someone arrived.

Counted as
1 pageview
Reached
the top of the page

The page loaded. That's all a pageview records: not whether anyone read a word.

Real engagement

Someone actually interacted with the content.

Counted as
1 pageview
Scroll depth
92%

Same pageview count, very different visit. Widgetail measures scroll depth and session behavior as it happens.

What you get

Understand your archive. Get paid for its value.

Each card links to exactly where that piece stands.

See which pages hold readers

Pageviews, unique sessions and scroll depth per site, so you can tell the content that draws clicks from the content that keeps readers.

Anonymous by design

No IP addresses, no fingerprints, no personal profiles. Your readers stay anonymous.

A content value score

A per-page score built from time spent reading, scroll depth, repeat views and interactions, so a deeply read niche piece isn't buried by a skimmed hit.

A say in what's built

Early-access publishers help decide what the value layer should do and what it should never do.

Good fit

Widgetail is most useful if…

  • You publish content that people read, not just glance at.
  • You've outgrown pageviews as a way to judge what's working.
  • You worry about ad blockers or machine readers eating into revenue.
  • You want to be early on whatever replaces the pageview.

Worth knowing

Widgetail sits alongside your ad stack and your analytics; it doesn't replace them. For the wider landscape of how publishers get paid, read publisher monetization.

Questions

Before you join.

Does Widgetail pay publishers today?

Not yet. Payments are being built; what works today is engagement measurement. The roadmap shows exactly where each part stands.

What can I use today?

You can add one script tag to your site and see pageviews, unique sessions, scroll depth, traffic over time and top pages in the Console dashboard. Access is through the early-access list, so join it and we'll be in touch about getting set up.

Will Widgetail replace advertising?

No. The goal is to add options, not to take advertising away. Ads still work for many sites. We're exploring additional ways for valuable content to earn: from machine access, from visitors who would rather not see ads, and from better engagement signals for advertisers.

How much does Widgetail cost?

Pricing hasn't been decided yet. We would rather say that than guess.
